Bouchards: June Update

Greetings one more time from Wyoming,

This may well be our last email from Wyoming. We have begun the process of packing and preparing to return to Kijabe. At the end of May we began the process of saying our good-byes when we took a trip to New Mexico to say good-bye to Laura before she deploys to Iraq June 19th. (The picture is in the Sandia Mts. outside of Albuquerque) In the next 8 weeks we will be wrapping up things here in Worland, and beginning a road trip south and then east to visit friends and family before our return to Kenya on August 5th. We have enjoyed our time here in the States and we have been blessed with many opportunities, and have been able to renew old friendships and meet new friends. We have been able to share our ministry at multiple venues and with a variety of people and organizations.

During this past year Brian has enjoyed and thrived at Davidson College, is currently working at a homeless shelter in Charlotte, NC and is looking forward to being a Residence Assistant in an upperclassmen dorm when he returns to Davidson in the fall. Laura was married to Ben in April and was commissioned as 1st Lt Laura Mead at the beginning of June and will be spending the next 6 months at Ali Air Force Base in southern Iraq. Emily and Tony weathered the economic recession in Charlotte and are in the process of making a move to Korea to teach English for the next year. They are also hoping to return to Serere, Uganda this summer to work with a children’s ministry called Village to Village. If you’d like to learn more about their work in Uganda, visit the V2V website. Emily and Tony believe that God is calling them into fulltime missions and they hope that their time in Korea can help their financial situation and better prepare them to work with Village to Village full time. So when we return to Kenya, not only will we return without our kids, but our kids will be scattered around the world. It will indeed be different returning this time.

Once again there is a high turnover in staff at RVA, and the staffing puzzle is still being worked out. We are not sure of our exact assignments, but we do expect that Sara will be back in the Library, and we will be in the midst of 500 missionary kids. We are looking forward to returning to our ministry at RVA, and to seeing what God has in store for us this next year.

Again we wish to thank all of you who have blessed us this year in so many different ways!! We could not do what we do without the love, support, prayers and friendship of you folks. We pray that God will continue to bless and reward you.

In Jesus,

Alan and Sara
