Bouchards: Prayer for Kenya
Many of you may be aware that Kenya's recent elections have triggered violent reactions around the country, with many people killed in the riots and even more people who have lost property and homes. We want to reassure everyone that here at Kijabe we are away from the hot spots and are safe. The violence is primarily ethnic and we are not targets, nor are we in harm's way. The country however is in crisis. Tomorrow is a critical day for Kenya as the opposition party, who is protesting the results of the election, is staging a rally in the city center of Nairobi and the government has declared it to be be an illegal gathering. This could be a potentially violent scene. We are asking people to pray for peace in Kenya and especially tomorrow when tensions are at their peak.
Here at RVA we have delayed the opening of our 2nd term and are waiting the results of the next day or so to see if it will be safe for families to travel with or to send their children to Kijabe. This could potentially be very disruptive to the missionaries throughout Africa.
So again we are calling on our friends and family around the world to pray for peace Kenya, especially tomorrow, and wisdom for those in positions of leadership as people work through the ramifications of these events at all levels.
